Gingerbread Recipe

Ingredients:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 tablespoon ground ginger
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2/3 cup Molasses
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
In a separate large bowl, beat together the butter and brown sugar until creamy.
Add the egg, molasses, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, beating well.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Divide the dough into two portions, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
Baking:
Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
Use gingerbread man cookie cutters or get creative with festive shapes.
Place the cutouts on the prepared baking sheets and bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are firm.
Allow the cookies to cool on the sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely! This is so important!

Properly storing gingerbread cookies is essential to maintain their freshness and flavour. Here are some tips on the best way to store your gingerbread cookies:
Cooling: You MUST Cool your gingerbread on the tray before cooling completely on wire racks before storing them. Storing warm cookies can create condensation, leading to soggy cookies and no one likes a soggy cookie.
Air-Tight Container: Store gingerbread cookies in an air-tight container to prevent them from becoming stale and to retain their moisture. Consider placing a piece of wax paper between layers to avoid sticking.
Layer Separation: If you're stacking multiple layers of cookies in a container, separate each layer with parchment paper or wax paper to prevent them from sticking together.
Desiccant Packs: If you live in a humid environment, consider placing desiccant packs in the container to absorb excess moisture and keep the cookies crisp.
