How do you create a realistic Halloween eye ball cupcake topper using basic fondant?
Do not adjust your screens, Im aware this isn’t the usual Lady Berry Pretty pastel cutesy content but this eye ball cupcake is great fun to make for Halloween! They are super easy to make too. Let me show you.
You will need:
A circular cupcake cutter
Rolling pin
Edible dusts colours of choice & brush
Sculpting tool
Water and brush
Ruler/ knife
Basic Fondant: Any main colour you like along with a little white, black and grey.
Warm up your main colour of fondant
Cut out two circles of fondant
Cut a slice from the middle of one disc
Roll a ball of white fondant and flatten into a circle
5. With water glue white circle to the centre of the full green disc
6. Roll a smaller ball of black fondant and flatten, stick in the middle of the white.
7. Roll a smaller ball of grey and stick on the top of the black circle.
8. Take 2 small balls of white one bigger than the other
9. Using what ever edible dusts you have. I love my dust trays which are linked here for you in the Amazon shop. (They are the newer ones with the black frames)
10. Lightly dust around the edge of the black iris on the white fondant, you could even try red to make it look really effective!
11. Then attach the 2 smaller semi circles at the top and the bottom ensuring you leave space for the eye ball to be seen. You could also pull down the eye lid to open up the eye in a gruesome way.
12. Grab your sculpting tool or a knife.
13. Score a few lines from the middle along the bottom of the eye to create creases 2-4 up to you and how haggard you want it to look.
14. Repeat the same on the top eye lid
15. Let’s enhance those wrinkles with a selection of dusts depending what colour fondant you have chosen to use. Here with the green I using a darker shade of green,a brighter shade of green and some grey.
16 .Then repeat on the top eye lid until you get the desire effect!
17. Grab you cupcake or cookie add a flat layer of buttercream on the top and place your fondant eye ball design on the top!
18. I wonder how they would look all over a cake?!
TIP: Let your fondant dry before adding your edible dust for the best results. If your fondant is still soft your brush may dent your fondant and you dust may be patchy due to the moisture.
