Why Use Threads For Your Baking Business

It is it worth getting your Baking Business on the New App Threads?

Have you joined threads? Threads is a new app from Instagram, its a messaging app that allows users to use text, share photos, videos, openly chat with your audience/customers/potential new customers along with others in your industry and your community.

I can understand you initial response maybe I just can’t handle yet another app! It’s just too much to manage! But this comes down to us and our time management within out baking businesses, how we learn to balance our time to grow our businesses.

How Do You Join:

It’s Super easy! Threads is linked to your existing Instagram account, so unlike other apps, you don't need to sign up from scratch. Just click on your username at the bottom of the welcome screen and it connects you!

Note: You can even link your Instagram profile to your threads so it matches.

Why Its Important For A Small Business:

As a small business and a good business owner we do have to keep up with what’s new, new platforms, new apps, new styles, new trends and everything that’s available to us to grow our businesses. We always have to consider how we are providing value to our clients and our customers are on a new app, we should be there to serve, support them and remind them why they need our services.

I asked my audience on The Lady Berry Baking Businesses Instagram account. When it first came out and 95% of the bakers said they weren’t going to joining yet another social media app. But I want let you know why I think you should.

CONSIDER:

It’s FREE! Another free way for you to connect to your customers, your community and share your all of your beautiful bakes with them. Its only 3 steps to join and will immediately connect your Instagram audience you don't have to start from scratch they will be notified making it easy for them to follow! Yay It’s easy to flip between apps and share from one another…..

Imagine you didn’t join Instagram when it came out and you had to play catch up! With Threads you have the opportunity to start with EVERYONE else as we are all learning together, which doesn’t happen very often.

TIP: The top reason I joined Threads is you can add LIVE links directly to your post! You can’t do that on Instagram! So Yay! If you have a Blog, a website, a shop, calendar you can send your audience directly there! You can bring new people into your business and create new leads.

As a home baker looking to grow your business, you can use the Threads app in the following ways:

  1. Think text as well as imagery: If your use to sharing a-lot of videos and images on Instagram think of threads as way to connect with your audience with text, polls, engaging with them teaching them more about you. You're brand the story behind your business, your goals, behind the scenes and so much more. So rather than spending hours making content explore just text and engaging with your customers.

  2. Give exclusive sneak peeks: Use Threads to share behind-the-scenes photos and videos of your baking process. This gives followers & customers an exclusive look at your creations and fosters a sense of excitement around your products. You can mix it up and share the content you prefer.

  3. Limited-Time Offers: Send personalised messages to your Threads audience with special offers, discounts, or promotions. This creates a sense of exclusivity and encourages them to make a purchase from you.

  4. Customer Engagement: Use Threads to directly engage with your customers, asking for feedback, suggestions, or even sharing polls to involve them in product development or flavour choices.

  5. Customised Orders: Allow your Threads contacts to request custom cake orders directly through the app. This personal touch can lead to increased customer satisfaction and loyalty.

  6. Collaborations: Partner with other small businesses, influencers, or food bloggers and use Threads to coordinate collaborations, giveaways, or joint promotions.

  7. Pre-Orders and Limited Editions: Inform your Threads contacts about upcoming limited-edition cakes or pre-order opportunities, giving them priority access to new products.

  8. Virtual Tasting Events: Organise virtual tasting events or live baking sessions exclusively for your Threads community. This interactive approach helps build a closer connection with your customers.

  9. Testimonials and Reviews: Encourage your audience to leave reviews or testimonials through Threads, which can be used for social proof and building credibility. You can then use that feed back across other channels.

  10. Seasonal or Holiday Specials: Send personalised holiday greetings or special offers to your Threads contacts during festive seasons, making them feel valued and appreciated.

  11. Insight into New Recipes: Share your latest cake recipes or experimental flavours with your Threads community, seeking their input and feedback.

  12. By adding engaging content you can add links to purchase and booking items too! Love That!

  13. Use the platform to educate your customers about you, your business, your brand, tell your story.

    Are You Considering Joining?

Ok Something else To Consider:

Think of it as fresh challenge and a new opportunity to connect! Remember we generate sales with connection and community. Yes that takes effort but the effort pays off when you show up and connect with your community! So get out there and get social! :The clue is in the name lol:

Remember, while Threads allows for more private and focused communication, it's important to balance exclusivity with broader marketing efforts on other platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Tik Tok or your website if you have one.

The combination of a strong online presence, engaging content, and personalised communication can help your baking business grow and thrive. So always  remember don't put all your eggs in once basket. No social media platform is guaranteed!

So see joining a new app as a wonderful opportunity to connect with MORE people!

TIP: Don’t over think it as it’s so new. I haven’t posted ,much on there yet but even having a presence there has generated an audience of 10.3K So if they missed my content on others apps that day they may have seen in on Threads!

Don’t Stress!

Equally - Don’t worry as everyone is currently exploring, playing and seeing what lands with their audiences. So maybe join it and just have fun for now as who knows what it’s going evolve into. If you feel overwhelmed right now then don’t join threads. There is no right or wrong. Do what works for you and your business.

RESULT: Since joining the Threads App my baking business Instagram reach has gone up

by 55% in 2 weeks! My Facebook audience has grown by 2K! Without me doing anything different!

If your not sure see what others in your industry are doing on Threads for inspiration!

TIP: I personally recommend having a presence EVERYWHERE on every platform as you can always bring your clients over to you preferred platform with engaging content.

There is no harm in having a presence on Threads.
